I checked the site out because it seemed too good to be true.

she sent a couple of pictures to entice. based on the write up here, it seems as if its a scam.

    Hello,
Sorry it took me a few days to respond, This was a shock, what a tremendous interest, your email was the first one, and you get first dibs. Please visit: CL Phone Safe which will certify you wtih CL.

I’ll call you as soon as done and give you my address to pick it up.
    Thanks,
    Lucy

One thing I’ve noticed is that all the replies from these scammers arrive in my SPAM folder, unlike legitimate CL sellers replies, which always go to my INBOX. They usually HAUNT the Free category, so beware!!!

      Hello,

I apologize for not responding to you earlier, I have been extremely busy the last few days!

The good news is that the rental is still available! We had a tentative agreement from the first person we showed it to, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible. You were the second one to email me about it, so its only fair to give you the first shot.

We know you will want to do a walk through of the property, but my husband doesn’t want me to advertise the address as a measure of safety. Last time we did that without verifying people, the empty property was broken into and vandalized. We don’t want that to happen again! You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone, if you decide to have these services. Just to confirm, we DO allow pets at this property.

The rental term is 12-month lease, but can be switched into a 6-month lease if preferred. We just ask that you give us fair notice if you are moving out.

If you would like to set up an appointment, go to the link below and request the free copy of your rental report. We use this site for all the properties we manage. Just fill out the form and indicate that you want the free report. The actual scores aren’t important to us, it’s more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no previous proerty related issues.

Get your report here: FULL REPORT

Remember, we only need to see the page about the rental history. That will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing.

As far as getting together to see the property goes, I am available to show it any time from 10:00 am on, for the next few days. Let me know once you have it printed out, and we will set up a time to do your walk-through.

Thank you once again for your interest!

    Hi all:

I got this today about a house I emailed about in California since I’m looking to move.

    From: Stacy Werner stacy@eazymail.org via yahoo.com & this reply-to: stacy.werner64@gmail.com.

Obviously clicking on the FREE REPORT link takes me to a redirect link that lands on creditreport.com but I don’t think it’s the REAL creditreport.com. It’s all very confusing. I can’t figure out what Craigslist posting it came from because I’ve emailed a lot of landlords about places in the past few days. I did not respond to type in any info the the credit report site so that’s all good news because it all seemed to weird. The funny thing is that rental info is NOT included in a credit report (I pulled mine a few months ago and checked)… So, this is definitely a scam.

    Anyone else get this?
I’m trying to warn people/figure out how to get this guy. Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amy

    • I just got this email as well! It was for a property on Steiner and Sutter in San Francisco, a 1BR for $1870. I just got scammed the other day on craigslist for an apt in the Marina, and I thought to google the email address. Thanks so much for saving me! Anything I can do to help?

    • Mario says:

Yes, I’m looking for a place to move near Berkrley, CA and replied to an add in CL and I got the same response back. I found out he/she is using these Names or email addresses.: (Ashton Lauenhardashton.lauenhard@gmail.com, Stacy Williams, Stacy, shton.lauenhard@gmail.com, Anna Herbera)

      MA

    • guest says:

I got the same email as Amy did! Now Stacy “has” an apartment in Berkeley! She changed her name from Stacy Werner to Stacy Willliams (note that the last name has 3 l’s). Never click on any links strangers send you. Also, even though she seems to send her email through stacy@eazymail.org, the mail was actually sent through yahoo. Big scammer!

    • Carson says:

I got the exact same email (down to the misspelling of “property” 8 lines up and 3 L’s in her name). It was for ” $1530 / 1br – Top Floor One Bedroom in Lower Haight ” that was flagged within 8hrs of being posted. SCAM.

I JUST GOT THE SAME SCAM EMAIL regarding a property in Brentwood, CA!!! Wow am I glad I did a little research BEFORE i gave any info. Although I did reply back to her that I as uncomfortable entering my cc info into ANY site…..but I did send her my phone number….grrr….

    • Aaron says:

I received the same email from “stacy williams”, in reference to “$2350 / 1br – Spacious Upgraded 1 bedroom (downtown / civic / van ness)”. the FREE REPORT link leads to http://credtnow.com/6cPl44nHD2Mgqz0WlCBbag, which of course the whois is locked, but the nameservers resolve to ns1.new-hosst.info, which looks like an aggregator or rating site for credit scoring services.
The redirect to creditscore.com seems to be legit, it doesnt seem to be a mirrored site or anything from what I can tell, but there is definitely some level of referral tracking going on, leading me to believe that “Stacy Williams” isn’t just phishing for information but is legitimately cashing in on any referrals/signups/conversions she sends to creditscore.com…In any case, its damn devious. As if finding an apartment wasn’t painful enough…

    • jeff says:

yes i just got an email today from the same email address: stacy@eazymail.org…i inquired about an ad on craigslist about an apartment in new jersey and she replied with the link telling me to get my “rentals preport” which doesnt exist and print it out and reply to her…she wouldnt even give me the address or location of the apartment not even the city…so it was fishy from the beginning…good thing i found this post because i was really into the apartment lol atleast the fake pix they showed me for a great price….scam if you ask me

The posting is about a “$1490 / 3br – 3br – 2ba, New A/C, New Washer, upgraded Bath, close to Downtown (dublin / pleasanton / livermore).” I’m so glad I researched and found the scam information here before I proceed. Thanks for the warning here!!

I just received this email as well…. I looked over the pictures again and noticed the kitchens didn’t match. One kitchen was black.. while the other kitchen was white… so that clued me off right there.. her name was also stacy.. I just copied her email and googled it and it lead me to here.

    • FanceeFace says:

WOW! I’m so glad I’m overly cautious and love to google things. I live in Louisiana I sent an email about a property here in Baton Rouge and I received the exact same email. Since the landlords I’ve dealt with in the past all choose to pull your info themselves, I was a bit skeptical about this one. I’m so glad I did a little research.

    • Lia says:

      Dear Amy,
I’ve got the same e-mail response to a craigslist posting in Alameda, CA. I did not clicked on the free report, just asked additional question and then got a response that the property was rented already. A week later I was asking for info to a different ad and again same massage. This made me suspicious and I’ve google info and found your posting. I will warn craigslist about the scam. Thanks for your post and concern.

I just got the same exact email from the same person. I decided to check her out, because of the domain name. Not to mention she didn’t reply back to the same email I originally sent. I figured it was a scam.

    • Jen says:

Yep, that’s the exact email I got about a condo in Orinda for $1475. No real landlord would have you fill out a credit report that early in the game as a prerequisite for just seeing the property.

    • Lana says:

Exact same! House in San Bruno CA. Thanks to others for posting here. Otherwise, I would have been scammed.

    • Kaeleb says:

I too just recieved this same email, as I am also looking to move. I found this on Craigslist in Salt Lake City. Too bad too, the apartment is beautiful… If it helps, the layout of the apartment is exactly the same as an apartment I painted early last year. Normally that wouldn’t strike me as odd, but layout is very strange.

Omg, Stacy still around, I have just received one email from “Stacy Low” and the content was exactly the same, the property was in Fremont, CA. I was curious when I first received this email because I know credit report doesn’t provide rental history. Also, my experience is to see the property first and send in the application afterward. Just be careful everyone.

    • NICOLE says:

I’ve also gotten a response from “Stacy Willliams” at the same email address (Stacy@EasyMail.com) about a 2 bedroom townhouse in San Jose! At least the rental rate was close. Why do they have to scam us poor folks who just want a new place to live??? Thank you everyone who’s posted as this thread came up in a google search.

    • Luna says:

Hi Amy. Omg! I’m so glad I came across your posting. I received an identical email response today (2/24/12) for a rental on Bayshore Road in SF, from:

      stacy.williams@rental-verification.org

Was initially curious as to why Stacy signed the email as “Sally”… and why the “free report” link was blocked on my computer at work.

      Thanks so much for sharing!

    • Holly says:

YES I just got the same thing from someone calling themselves Andrea, for a rental in Denver. Same email address and same format for the email! So happy I didn’t fill out the report. This is frustrating trying to find a reputable independent landlord!

    • Jason says:

Just got this email as well. I had a feeling this was the response I would get. I’ve received these before, just with different names. Beware and do not reply to these!!!

    • Cela says:

“Stacy” is still at it. I got the same email posted above twice, for two separate listings in SF’s Richmond District. There is no real apartment to show – she sends an email with a link which eventually asks for a credit card # – BEWARE. Uses stacylow14@hotmail.com and stacy@eazymail.org.

    • toosaditwasascam says:

I also got the same mail from Stacy about a property on Steiner and Sutter in SF; 1BR $1870.
Now Her or His email address is Stacylow@eazymail.org.
So be aware of this mail address as well!!!

Thankfully, I already have a credit report service, so asking her if I could bring my own instead of what she suggested..and was waiting their response till now!

Anyway, it’s really sad these scumbags use Craigslist for their profit….
Thank you very much for sharing your experience!

I just received the same EXACT email this morning after I enquired about a place in Campbell. I knew $1400 for a 2br/2ba sounded too good to be true. Stupid me clicked on the link though and started filling out the information until it came time to put in a credit card number. Does anyone think I’ll have any issues? The only thing I filled out was my name and address, didn’t input my SS# or credit card # or anything.

Then I started researching and came across this and numerous other sites. Anyway, the email address I got was stacylow14@hotmail.com via yahoo.com. Thank you so much for having this website. I definitely plan on filing a complaint.

      • hello, if you see a house or apartment on craigslist that does not have a address or phone number do not respond to it it is all a scam because 2 weeks ago i saw a townhouse in concord ca and i called it and the lady told me to call her the next day to see it but i did not call then 1 week later i saw the same townhouse on craigslist and the rent went down from what the lady told me and i email it but 2 days later i got a response about it and it was a scam but i did not do nothing on the credit report so today i called the lady back and she still has the townhouse for rent and i told the lady that someone is using the pictures to scam people and the lady thank me for letting her know but she said that there was nothing she can do about it so just be alert on the apartment that you like on this site and do not respond to anything that has no address or phone number on it because it is not true what you see or read on the site.

Wow, I just got the same email from Stacey Williams. Here is the text of the email. At first when I read it I was sure it was a scam, then after clicking the link – which looks just like a normal credit report – I thought maybe I was being paranoid. Thanks for posting to this site, its very helpful. This was the response I got from the ad (Re: $1975 / 1br – Upsacle 1/1 – Fantastic Kitchen (laurel hts / presidio). I noticed the ad has been flagged and removed.

    Wow.

Earlier I posted that I had received this response in reply to an ad for a property in Pleasant Hill. I received it again in conjunction with an inquiry on a property in San Ramon. Needless to say, I’m more than a little irritated and have been happily flagging these posts each time I see them in the search results.

After a little research, I suspect this scam is a ploy by someone acting as an internet marketing affiliate for freecreditreport.com. If you research their affiliate program, freecreditreport.com pays a 30% commission on the subscription price to the owner of the link who referred the subscriber to their site.

If the perpetrator of this scam can simply get you to click this link and stumble into providing your credit card number and then you happen to forget to cancel within the trial period, voila! they’ve earned a 30% commission.

      • AngelaM2002@yahoo.com says:

I believe this to be true. I was also tricked into giving my credit card info to creditreport.com for this “Stacy Williams”. When I called creditreport.com, “Richard” the customer service rep. (#061083, I asked) was NOT sympathetic to the fact that I was duped into signing up, didn’t even sound surprised. He continually tried to get me to keep and upgrade my membership. I am still shaking from how angry I was getting when he refused to understand that I JUST WANT TO CANCEL! I told him I knew this was a scam, and he didn’t react. He just kept reciting more “deals” to me. By the end of the conversation, I was screaming and swearing at him, telling him he better just cancel, and he better not charge my credit card!

    Hi Stacy,

I appreciate your situation. I am interested in your property but I am a bit skeptical myself of this email.

I have great credit and great references as well. So I’ve no problem with giving you a credit report. But it’s very unconventional to request this online without meeting face to face or at least talking on the phone.

Will you please call me first to at least talk on the phone or if you prefer, please send me your phone number so that I can call you. I am not inclined to click a redirect link for my credit information without verification as there are numerous scams on craigslist.

Please call me or send me your information so that we can talk or meet with each other prior to me divulging my private information to the Internet.

    Kind Regards,
    Shoji

Sure that sounds good. I would be happy to show you around anytime. Let me know when you have your report printed out, and we?ll set up a time to get together and complete your walk through.

I am so upset! I got the same email from this fake Stacy. I thought it was for real, and it’s one of my first times replying to a craigslist ad, so I don’t know what to expect. I was excited about the prospect of moving to such a cool place. 3BR townhouse, 2 BA with wooden floors for only 1600!!! I knew something was odd because most rentals I dealt with run credit checks on your behalf. DUH, I mean, I could easily photoshop my scores to what I want if I did it myself! SHOT. I registered, looks like I will have to call tomorrow to cancel my damn account. Ill call make bank right now and see what I can do.
Thanks everyone, you all have been so helpful…. unlike this Ho Stacy!!!

  20. Nina says:

This just happened to me today from the same Stacy@eazymail, for a townhouse in Campbell, CA. Someone had just tried to scam me yesterday, stating they were out of the country and wanted to send me keys and documents, sight unseen, after I mail a check for rent and deposit (yeah right). He was in Nigeria (go figure). He gave me a phone number which I found on numerous scam report sites. I reported that post to Craig’s List, and then found Stacy’s.

“Stacy” e-mailed me today with the same exact e-mail that others posted here. I also thought it was strange that she was asking me to fill out a credit report, but I have to admit the tone of her e-mail was so friendly and familiar I almost gave her the benefit of the doubt. I started to enter the information until it asked for my SSN and credit card. I stopped there, and e-mailed her back. I asked her for a phone number and said it would make sense to chat on the phone to see if it was a good fit before going through further steps. She ignored my request for a phone number, and instead just said, “Please let me know when you have printed out the first page of the credit report and we can schedule a time to meet”. That is when I decided to look up her e-mail address. I didn’t enter any credit information but I did enter my address and phone number, hope this ends up being benign. I am so nervous about using CL to look for a place to live! People are evil.

    Hi there,

I’m so sorry for this…but the couple that was looking at the place originally, actually came back and put their deposit down. I mentioned that things have been hectic around here… I guess they had been calling me frantically, and my phone was in a spot in our house that, for whatever reason, gets really bad reception…so I didn’t even notice they were trying to call back. Anyways, they just got back in touch with my husband and signed the lease, and put down the deposit and everything. I’m really sorry for all this confusion.

We own multiple properties in the area so we will definitely keep you on the top of the list if anything else comes available soon.

    Thanks,

So far, all that we’ve discovered is that the scammer tries to make money from commissions earned by signing you up for the credit report site. We don’t know what else, if anything this scammer does. Probably the best thing for you to do would be to file a complaint with the FBI at http://www.ic3.gov. You should also send complaints to the ISP for the scam site and the ISP for the server that was used for sending you the email message. See our help page on this topic for instructions.

I am going to email 7 on your side about this credit agency. Stacey Low, Staceylow14 as other versions of stacey are flooding the willow glen campbell and san jose links. What crazy is she definitely has pictures of houses that would match the style of housing for that area. it must be a team of people through out the bay area, because they do have real shots of properties. Some of the addresses are listed some are just the street. In my last of several inquiries on rentals that I unfortunately found were posted by “her”, I responded that I will let the authorities know.

The first time, I foolishly registered on smartcredit.com but I cancelled it and called them to make sure that no charges would be made and that nobody would benefit from my signing up. Keep an eye on your credit reports, everyone!

  33. Anne says:

I also got scammed. In a hurry and up too late at night, although it was weird, I still filled out the form for the credit report. Name, dob, ssn, address, and credit card #. CRAP! Then I googled the email address of the “landlord” because I was trying to set up a viewing of the property but my messages kept bouncing as undeliverable to stacy@eazymail.org. Her original email address was staceylow20@hotmail.com. So I got suspicious too late, went online and I saw all of these postings. I spent the rest of the early am canceling my credit card that I entered, submitting a complaint to the ftc (which was recommended by cragslist) and calling the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian,TransUnion) to initiate a security alert. This remains on your report for 90 days. I also quickly called Profinity customer service (the company of the credit score application) and cancelled the membership. The trial was a 7 day trial and if not cancelled, would cost a non-refundable $89.95. My suspicion is that it’s not a “person” but maybe the company illegally trying to drum up business. I’m going to continue to monitor all of my accounts over the next year just to be cautious. Following is the message I received, similar to many shown above. The first red flag should have gone off when I read the first sentence because in fact I had recently corresponded and I had not had to wait long for “her” response. 2nd red flag, never open a link from an unknown person in your inbox. 3rd red flag, the link in “her” message didn’t work after a few hours and just took you to the google.com homepage.

I didn’t register or follow-up as clearly things sounded fishy. I hope others can avoid getting scammed too.

I got the same email from a woman named Stacy Low (staceylow20@hotmail.com & stacylow@eazymail.com ) when I responded to a Craigslist add for a house rental in Chattanooga, TN. The link (thankfully) didn’t work when I clicked on it, but I got very suspicious when she wouldn’t accept my own credit report (from a reputable site) and references. Also, she would never send me any pictures from even the inside of the house…

  37. I received the same thing from a Stacy Low. I am really sick of these scammers wasting people’s time and preying on people looking for a place to live. Thankfully, I didn’t fill anything in and double thankfully, the link is blocked by my job.

Also check for staceylowe@hotmail.com. I am looking for a rental accommodation in San Jose/Sunnyvale/ Cupertino area and have received about 8 or 10 replies from Stacey. I flag their posts everytime I see them so that others are saved from the hassle.

  40. hello everyone, yes i was looking for a apartment on craigslist and i saw the listing for a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo in concord/pleasant hill/martinez area for 1250.00 and i replied to this listing and i ask this person if she accepts section 8 and she replied and i got the exact same email and i click on the credit report i filled it out till i got to the part of using credit card well i close that site and i email her again if she needs the credit score or not then she reply that the unit was already rented and i receive the same email like everybody else did that the person sign a leased and put down a deposit. this is my first time on craigslist looking and answering these ads. i advise everyone if you are looking for a apartment on these sites and you try to respond don’t if it does not have a phone number or a address than you know it is a scam. if you want to get a free credit score go to free score on line .com it will cost you but i don’t now how much will be. by the way this person that put this unit on craigslist used stacy low

  41. Elo says:

“Stacy” is still at it, using “staceylow20@hotmail.com” and “stacylow@eazymail.com” – through a “too good to be true” condo for rent in the SF Bay Peninsula Craigslist. The emails she sent were exactly as others have posted above.

Filled out the rental report info from equifax.com, then found this page when I began to be suspicious of her vague emails and apparent incomprehension of what I wrote in my emails. I don’t think it will turn out to harm anyone’s personal information, Equifax is a legit site….just make sure to cancel your trial membership within 30 days or you’ll start getting charged for their services–and this piece of trash will profit off of you!

  42. hello everyone, i went to the site again and i found a little cottage in craigslist for 1150.00 and i answered it again stacy answered the exact email and i answered and told her that i was on to her and i will call the police i am waiting to see if she answer me but i don’t think so. she will never learn that all of us is on to her and we need to stop her from doing this i hope she will really get in trouble with the police and do her time in jail.

  43. Karl says:

Hi all, I got the same email from “Stacy” (using staceylow20@hotmail.com) after responding to an ad for a 2BR in east oakland:

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/apa/3429543263.html

I was stupid and clicked on the link and it sent me to “equifax”. But I think it’s a dummy site:

    http://www.equifax.com/advantagefree/DSP/?CID=1

It’s not the same as the real equifax (http://www.equifax.com/home/en_us) as far as I can tell.

    Can anyone corroborate this?

I was even stupider and entered the info on first page of the presumably fake equifax site (SS#, birthday, address, phone number) and pressed continue. I’m assuming this transmitted the information to “Stacy”. How screwed am I?

  44. sherry says:

stacy is working for bogus realters don’t answer any sites that does not have address and phone number to contact she is using these pics to fool us so you can get your credit score from the credit sites don’t fall victim to her satisfaction on these sites

  45. Alexa says:

I got the exact same email for a 1 bedroom apartment in San Francisco, from staceylow20@hotmail.com .

  46. Jamie says:

I got the same exact email response for a “$950 / 1br – Lovely Apt in Great Location (oakland lake merritt / grand)” in Oakland. The craigslist ad has been flagged now. I thought it was weird that the response was a different thread than the original (only noticed because of gmail). Thank goodness the link was blocked by my work computer. I did give her phone numbers though. I asked her some questions, and she did send a second reply, though it was pretty generalized.

  47. NYC says:

Yes, the text of the email sounded legit — but the link to the credit report was suspicious credterrsche.cz.cc. Clicked through to a seemingly-legit Equifax site, but who knows if the other site is tracking keystrokes? Another tip-off, as mentioned by others, is that the reply to “Stacy” goes to eazymail.org, and the displayed reply-to hotmail address doesn’t exist.

  48. Jack Fresent says:

Here are a few of her emails that she uses.

    stacylow@eazymail.org , staceylow20@hotmail.com , stacylow@hotmail.com , staceylow2@gmail.com, lstacey20@hotmail.com

We have caught her on a few other apartment sites
