Clsafe.org

Clsafe.org is yet another site pretending to offer the CraigslistSafe verification service. Someone posted a m4w ad on Craigslist and received this reply from “Elizabeth Babicke” (robynwhitfield55kk@yahoo.com):

hey I saw your ad and would love an occasional hookup partner.so get back to me.

After he replied to her, he received this message:

hi again are you free right now totalk?
i screen so do this for me and message me on there
securedate
cant stay on much longer though

talk to ya soon,
elizabeth

The securedate link in the message points to http://www.clsafe.org/profiles/elizzy.

The sign up form is contained inside a frame. When you look at the source code for the frame you see that it comes from sexxxxmatch.com, a porn site.

Source for clsafe.org sign up form

Again, there is no CraigslistSafe verification service. Clsafe.org is not a dating site, it’s just a scam used to sign you up for porn sites and the scammer who owns clsafe.org gets a commission for each person he signs up. Anytime a site asks to use your credit card to verify your identity, it’s a scam like this one.

HOW CAN WE SHUT THESE SCAMMERS DOWN???
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP STOP THEM???
They make these auto responses that not only are so vague you might believe they are answering your replies, but they don’t come to you right away as they seem to be set to respond to you hours later, again to appear real. After the 2nd or 3rd round of emails they send you the one with a link. the one I got only said “clsafe” not org, net or other. Probably because it looks more legit, like it’s actually a craigslist

Clsafe.org is hosted by Ecatel. Forward the message you received to abuse@ecatel.net. Be sure to include a copy of the message headers. Also, please post a copy of the message and message headers here so we can inspect them.

Here is another scam site for you, mydateguard.com. After Craigslist replay email is from Catherine Tanzil . Links to http://sexxymatch.com and multiple other site add you “free” and then auto bill in a few days for renewal.

Yeah I just got one to. I cant believe people with access to google would fall for this with out doing some re search first

I got the same thing when I replied to an ad on craigslist. “She” sent me pictures and a link to the site. Here is my response to “her”. I told her “Why don’t you just give me your facebook info so I can send you a message through there? Waiting for a reply. Basically what I am doing now is scambaiting. I’m going to waste their time making them think I’m on the fence about signing up but keeping it going.

Similar story. Applied an ad in CL. Got some replies. All but two replies were scam. I got probably 5 or 6 scammers.
The most interesting and smart scammer came from someone named Colleen (last name Melbert? according to the person’s email address) with a gmail account; most of the other scammers had really weird yahoo account names (basically jibberish and with names differing from the From message line). I had thought this was a real person as the instructions I put in my ad were followed for the input of the heading of the subject line I requested. Damn these scammers are wack bc they are at least smart enough to trick me.
Low and behold the scammer sent a second message with some more pictures. I looked very closely at the pictures to find descrepancies between birthmarks, facial features, tanlines, etc. Shit you name I couldn’t except for one descrepancy. Either way, the second email requested that I go to a website: http://clsafe.me/profiles/c77/colleen.html

The address link took me to a site exactly the same as the one described above for “Lizzy.” The address link created is slightly different than the one given so I am very cautious and think it is a scam. Long story short, why can’t CL keep these scammers out?
I filled out my information (user name, password, and email address) to get to the following address link:
    https://saveright.me/mod_perl/join.cgi

Same BS applies here too. 2 free days of service before you are charged $39 per month. To register you must put in your credit card info; scam artists think they are trying to legit the fraud. The “saveright.me” address link actually looked legit? Does anybody have advice about this?

I still think it is a scam and I did what another person suggested, scambaiting. I am seeing that Colleen is not really a person that really cares but just wants a little of my money.

I would like to know what someone thinks about the “saveright.me” site. It is supposed to be “sponsored” by some legitimate sources such as RTA (restricted to adults) and ASACP (child protection).
Thanks for your help – I will be sure to avoid this which looks like a scam. Please if anybody has comments post on the board, I appreciate it.

I’m not looking for anything serious either. Where in Manhattan do you live and when would you like to meet?

Now they are using kelseywilcox785@yahoo.com as the email address. And here are more pictures of this person that they claim to be. http://erooups.com/2010/03/16/amusing_amateur_girl_12_pics.html

  6. Kyle says:

Haha, pretty sweet i googled this shit. when it asked for my credit card, i was like… wait a second…

  7. Neil says:

I got one to. This was from Vinnie (sounds like a guys name) Hicks. She wanted me to go there to put in my credit card to verify that I wasn’t a criminal or underage. Here’s the message ‘she’ sent:

    =================================
Sounds good Neil , I’d like to chat with you more. You can access my phone number and msn on this site:
    http://www.CRAIGSLlSTSAFE.org/profiles/vinniehicks
On the CL forums it was suggested to use that screening service to avoid criminals and under age boys so I can only give my contact to those who unlock it there. I’m sorry for this but safety comes first for me. Hope this is cool with you and we can talk soon :)
    ===============================

I told her that it’d be impossible for me to get an apartment by myself if I had a criminal background, and if the picture I sent of me with a huge beard didn’t prove I was of age, then I’d show her my drivers license when we met.

Can’t wait to see the reply.

  8. Robert Baker says:

Wow I almost fell for it just glad to see that your in formation provided here really helped me like I told JenntheHotie I may as well give it to you because either way I still have a 50 / 50 chance of getting Fucked
    By you right ?

  9. Cathy Indig says:

Hmm, I just got the clsafe thing and put in my phone number (not cell number) and it gave me a five digit veritication code to enter. I entered it. Don’t know what will happen next. But this person was giving away a washer and dryer. I didn’t think anything about that being a scam because so many people are giving away washers and dryers right now where i live. What can I expect? Is something going to happen? I don’t want them to hijack my computer or anything.

  10. JimJones says:

This is still going on a year later, just got email from this person myself, she sounded too desperate for how she looks in the pics so i got suspicious…. scammer is still using the same pics.
